Preventing crime, which can be as simple as reducing the opportuntities for crime to occur, is far less costly than apprehending and bringing legal action against those who break the law and it helps save people from the anguish of being victims.
Scouts should complete before attending: 1. Read the Crime Prevention Merit Badge Pamphlet 2. Review the Personal Safety & Awareness handout 3. Bring a notebook and pencil.
These must be completed outside class: 1. Conduct a real home security review with family 2. Interview a law enforcement officer or community crime-prevention leader 3. Observe or participate in a community crime-prevention effort.
